About NGO Human Resource (HR) Management

An organization’s ability to deliver its program is directly related to how effective the organization is in ascertaining, developing and managing its human resources. Effective human resources management systems increase organizational performance in supporting and managing the team members that make it possible for the organization to deliver its services and achieve its mission and goals. Many NGOs struggle due to a lack of appropriate human resources to carry out the organization’s works. Others face challenges caused by the lack of available and relevant human resources management systems and procedures, which are needed for effective and efficient program delivery and organizational accountability and sustainability.

About this training

This practical 5-day workshop covers the principles and practices of effective human resource management systems.

This training’s modules include:

  • Effective recruitment and orientation systems
  • Job descriptions and job contracts
  • Performance planning and review
  • Developing salary grids and staff benefit plans
  • Designing career development strategies
  • Tips for staff and team management
Participants must have their own computers (with minimum 512mb of RAM, 1 GHz Processor and WiFi) to do this training. If they are not able to bring this equipment themselves it can be rented from IDEP. Rental fees will apply.

IDEP trainings provide you with

Expert trainers: IDEP’s team works directly with communities and NGO partners throughout the country. The team has assisted in capacity building NGOs in Aceh, North Sumatera, Java, Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara amongst others.

Effective training methodology: Participants will be involved in a dynamic and effective learning environment. IDEP trainers use a range of tried and tested techniques, discussion groups, practice sessions, hands-on practice and teamwork activities. Participants should prepare their organization’s profile including vision and mission, program plans, current activities and achievements to date. Participants should also prepare a case study of managerial challenges their organization is currently facing prior to joining the workshop. This will help to ensure that the training focuses is relevant to their organization’s needs. Participants must have their own computers to do this training. If they cannot bring their own, equipment can be rented from IDEP. Rental fees will apply.  

Comprehensive reference materials:

IDEP provides all participants for this workshop with comprehensive handouts as key references to the contents of this training.  

As part of this training each participant will receive Indonesian versions of the following materials for use in their areas.

  • Organizational Strengthening Resources DVD Rom
Materials received at time of registering at the training location.


At the completion of the training, participants that have successfully completed 90% or more of the entire course will receive a certificate of participation for the training.

For trainings held at the IDEP Training Center the training costs per participant includes:
  • The workshop training fees
  • Resources and training materials provided
  • Accommodation cost in shared room facilities
  • Snacks, tea and coffee during break times
  • 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
