OS.01 NGO Decision Making and Risk Management

About NGO development in Indonesia

Over the past few decades there has been an incredibly rapid growth in the number of NGOs in Indonesia. Prior to 1998, there was only one labor organization and one farmers union acknowledged by the government; today there are at least 40 national labor organizations, 300 local labor unions and more than 10,000 labor associations, and hundreds of farmers’ organizations. Social-religious groups, research institutions, study groups and think tanks have also grown in numbers. The challenges that are being faced at the community level are also increasingly complex and multifaceted.

IDEP’s trainings directly contribute to increasing the capacity of Indonesian NGOs, providing clear benefits to those that are serious about organizational professionalism
